About Bar X

Welcome to Bar X Ranch, where we pride ourselves on our commitment to quality and efficiency in cattle genetics. Our operation includes 750 commercial cows and 150 registered cows, all of which graze year-round.

At Bar X Ranch, we believe in letting our cows do the work. Whether they’re registered or commercial, we expect them to perform well, raising healthy calves and remaining as economical as possible. We recognize there is a significant gap between the practices of most seedstock producers and commercial producers, and we strive to bridge that gap.

Both our registered and commercial cows receive the same feed/grazing program. We’ve naturally selected genetics that thrive with less-than-perfect conditions, understanding that most ranches don’t have ideal setups or feed trucks running around the clock. Our cattle graze year-round, and we uphold strict standards for maintaining a productive herd. Any cow that does not successfully raise a calf is culled from the herd. This rigorous, natural selection ensures that only the most capable animals remain, contributing to the overall health and productivity of ours and your operation.

To enhance our herd, we use an extensive donor and embryo transplant (ET) program. This program allows us to replicate our best genetics at scale and give a better offering. This also allows us to cut any bull that isn’t performing at the level that we see fit. These donor cows are the best of what we have to offer. They have all been first cycle bred cows with highest weaning weights, and very proven cows.

At Bar X Ranch, our goal is to provide you with high-quality, registered Black Angus bulls that are bred to excel in real-world conditions to drive profits for your operation.

We are highly selective about the traits we value in our cattle. We pay close attention to feet, udders, the ability to raise a calf, maternal instincts, and docility. We understand that these attributes are not just desirable but essential for a cow’s performance and, ultimately, for the profitability of any rancher. Strong feet and udders ensure longevity and health, while good maternal instincts and docility make management easier and more efficient.

Our feeding regimen for bulls is distinctly different from other registered producers. Rather than confining them to feedlots, we feed our bulls in large pastures. This method promotes natural muscle growth and development, ensuring that our bulls are fit and athletic. We recognize that bulls need to be able to traverse large pastures and perform their duties without being hindered by excess weight or lack of muscle tone.  Our approach ensures that our bulls are robust and capable of meeting the demands of a working ranch. We believe this method not only promotes the physical health and longevity of the bulls but also supports the profitability of your operation by providing you with animals that can perform effectively in real-world conditions.

At Bar X Ranch, we are committed to providing you with high-quality, registered Black Angus bulls that are bred and conditioned to thrive in practical ranching environments. Our meticulous selection and feeding practices ensure that our bulls are not just show animals but true working athletes, ready to enhance the productivity and profitability of your herd.

We are excited to offer our premium registered Black Angus bulls to enhance your cow/calf operation. Our bulls are bred for superior genetics, ensuring robust calves, excellent weight gain, and profit driven genetics for your operation.
